William Shakespeare is a widely known artist for what he has done yet we know so little of his life. There are no birth records and therefore we don't know exactly when he was born. We do know, however, that he was baptized in Stratford-upon-Avon on April 26, 1564 at Holy Trinity Church. This piece of information has led scholars to believe that his birth date is April 23, 1564 and that is now the date of birth that is acknowledged throughout the world. His father, John Shakespeare, was a leather merchant and his mother, Mary Arden, was a local landed heiress. He was the third child with two older sisters (Joan and Judith) and three younger brothers (Gilbert, Richard and Edmund). There were very few records of his early life and none about his education. Nevertheless scholars have narrowed it down and decided that he went to the King's New School where he received free tuition since he was an official's son. There he learned reading, writing and other basic subjects at the time. After he grew up he married 26 year old Anne Hathaway who was pregnant at the time. Shakespeare's age was 18 when he got married on November 28, 1582, in Worcester, Canterbury Province. He had three children a girl and to twins. One of the twins, Hamnet, died at the early age of 11. For seven years after the birth of the twins there are no records of his life extending the mystery of his very existence. There were many speculations on what he was doing and the assumption that in the 1580s he moved to London. Finally in 1592 Shakespeare's true legacy began for there is evidence that he was an actor and served as a play-write in London. In the early 1590s Shakespeare was the managing partner in the Lord Chamberlain's Men (later renamed the King's Men when King James I was crowned in 1603). After much success with his play-writing he, along with his business partners, built The Globe, a large theater on the south banks of the Thames River. He continued his life writing plays and poems in his own style which was ultimately beneficial. He used a style that used much of the English language as well as many of his own words. His works consisted of histories, comedy, tragedy, and tragicomedies (tragic comedies). His death os one that is still in the shadows. He has no real date of death but through careful analysis it is said that he died on his birthday-April 23, 1616. Whether or not this is a myth is still a mystery even today. About 150 years after his death there were many conspiracies about the existence of William Shakespeare's authorship due to the lack of records. Either way his works are one of the most read pieces all over the world falling second to the Bible. He may be a man of great mystery, but his work truly was a legacy.
